Along with professional projects, I have always enjoyed creating skits and short-form content that explore cultural diversity. This is one of them.
Concept
The project aimed to blend Omani and Brazilian culture through the universal language of soccer, adapting elements of Middle Eastern norms and Brazilian rhythms, both on and off the pitch.
Development
Laith Al Nabhani, the star of the skit, is an Omani citizen who embellishes the fusion of culture and diversity through the beautiful game. All creative direction, cinematography and editing was done by myself.
Result
The project was an unexpected resounding success, going viral in micro-influencer communities across Dubai and Oman, and playing an important cultural role in the perception of the upcoming and (at the time) controversial 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Future
The project remains part of a larger series that I have created with Laith. I hope to continue the saga soon.
